City Hall Deventer, Netherlands
The new City Hall (Stadhuis) for Deventer in the Netherlands is made up of the historic listed building, which has been completely renovated, and a new build covering 20,000 m2. The structure features large windows, allowing light to penetrate deep inside, and a splendid work of art by Loes ten Anscher in which the magnified fingerprints of 2,264 city residents adorn the glazed facades.
In all, the facades contain 1,200 m2 of Pyrobel glass (single or insulating glazings belonging to fire-resistance classes EW30, EI30, EW60 and EI60). This project is based on a design by Neutelings Riedijk Architects, resulting in a building that is not only one of the most sustainable in the Netherlands but also the proud holder of a BREEAM Excellent rating.
