A UNIQUE PROJECT

AGC Europe's Research and Development Centre in Gosselies, Belgium is a nearly zero-energy building – a showcase for the Group's glass solutions in terms of design, thermal insulation, solar control, fire resistance and, above all, sustainability. Some 95% of the 13,000 m2 of AGC glass used in the building is Cradle to CradleTM Certified Silver.

Naturally, AGC glass is used everywhere. Pyrobel fire-resistant glass – combining EI60 fire resistance with excellent acoustic insulation – was chosen for the walls in the double-glazed meeting rooms. Pyrobel Vision Line was used in some locations.

The Pyrobel Vision Line system combines maximum transparency with optimal fire safety. This exclusive solution does not use mullions. Instead, the sheets are butt-joined with a thin (4-5 mm) silicone joint and can even be used to form glass-to-glass corners.

The result is an unbroken fireproof glass wall that creates a modern look and spacious feel in any room.
The Vision Line system connects multiple sheets of Pyrobel glass to each other using flame-retardant silicone. If a fire breaks out, the glass forms an opaque fire-resistant barrier, protecting the wall, the surroundings and the people on the side not exposed to the fire. The Pyrobel Vision system has been thoroughly tested for indoor applications in classes EI30, EI60, EI90 and EI120 (in accordance with standard EN 13501-2) with steel, aluminium and wooden frames.
